      Fictie (young adult) Drieenzeventig meer of minder bekende sprookjes. Op grond waarvan juist deze sprookjes uit de oorspronkelijke 210 gekozen zijn, wordt niet vermeld. Deze keuze lijkt willekeurig. Dat geldt ook voor de bewerking van de tekst. Sommige verhalen zijn wat uitgebreid zonder dat de strekking verandert. In andere verhalen zijn slechts wat woorden en zinsconstructies veranderd. Dat levert geen mindere, maar ook geen betere tekst op. Het boek bevat veel zwart-wit tekeningen, waarvan de meeste wat cliche-matig zijn. Ieder verhaal begint met wat versieringen en een versierde hoofdletter. Verder bevat het boek zeven met waterverf geschilderde platen, die twee pagina's vullen en die betrekking hebben op een verhaal. Sommige daarvan zijn wat verwarrend, omdat in een plaat een beeld gegeven wordt van verschillende situaties uit een verhaal. Om identificatie met de jeugdige personen niet in de weg te staan gebruikte de auteur voor Old Shatterhand de 3e persoon i. p. v. de ik-vorm. Bovendien treden Winnetou en Old Shatterhand respectievelijk pas in het achtste en in het elfde hoofdstuk op waardoor ze nog meer op de achtergrond blijven en andere personages een actievere rol kunnen spelen. Werd een van de personages in een voorgaand deel Tante Grol genoemd, in dit deel heet zij Tante Frolic naar analogie van de gelijknamige Spectrumuitgave waarvan de tekst inclusief vertaalfout vrijwel in zijn geheel is overgenomen.
